  Job #101 - Product Development Engineer

General Position Description
The Product Development Engineer is responsible for ensuring that the company’s product development initiatives are achieved within agreed upon time and budget parameters. Development efforts will consist of both “new” products and systems, in addition to the enhancement of existing product lines. To ensure that development initiatives occur in the proper fashion, the Product Development Engineer will be expected to utilize proven product development processes, improving these processes where appropriate. Since there are no direct reports to this position, the Product Development Engineer must possess superb interpersonal and communication skills and have a demonstrated ability to inspire others to “join the project”. A solid engineering knowledge of aluminum storefront, entrance and curtainwall systems combined with a proven ability to successfully manage projects is essential for this position.

Principal Duties and Accountabilities
• Ensuring that product development initiatives are completed in an On-Time, Complete and Correct manner.
• Ensuring that product development initiatives are completed within budget.
• Acting as the chief coordinator between Vendors, Customers, outside Test Labs and internal resources while following the product development process.
• Responsible for creating and energizing a “development team” for each major product initiative.
• Creating initial product charter, ensuring appropriate return on investment, developing product strategy/context, designing and developing prototypes (includes tooling), administering prototype testing, scheduling and administering plant trial runs and ensuring advertising and promotional literature is ready for launch.

Position Requirements (Mandatory)
• Bachelors degree in Engineering field.
• Minimum of five years experience in technical design/applications engineering.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Superb/outstanding people skills. Able to relate to a wide range of education and background types.
• Strong customer orientation.

General Position Description:
The Structural Engineer provides support in the areas of structural review, system application, and development of new and existing products. The Structural Engineer determines the suitability of product application, using knowledge of building codes, specified materials and accepted installation methods.

Principle Duties and Accountabilities:
• Provides technical support to clients, architects, vendors and manufacturing, including review of projects for proper use of Tubelite products with regard to performance requirements.
• Acts as liaison to clients to address product design and application concerns.
• Participates in product testing process.
• Creates job specific detail drawings for clients and architects.
• Builds samples as needed to check for potential problems and test solutions.
• Develops and supports engineering policies and procedures in conjunction with Engineering Manager.
• Helps to ensure that departmental goals are completed on time, accurately, and within budget.

Position Requirements:
• Degree in Structural/Materials Engineering with experience in AutoCAD and Mechanical Desktop.
• years experience in architectural/construction related field.
• Familiarity with national building codes.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings and specifications.
• Thorough knowledge of drafting techniques and engineering technology.

General Description
Examine and verify invoices from suppliers as to quantities received, prices, and related costs, where some knowledge of policies and purchasing procedures is required. Obtain necessary authorization for payment according to the Financial Policy and alert supervision to irregularities. Take ownership of the General Ledger accounts to ensure that invoices and purchase orders are coded with the proper account and help others with General Ledger account understanding.

Principal Duties and Accountabilities include, but not limited to:
• Receive invoices and match invoices with purchase orders. (3-way match)
• Review, process and manually enter expense report information, check requests, and items without purchase orders.
• After approval, match check stubs to invoices.
• Compile various reports using established formats and procedures.
• File and maintain accounts payable files and records.
• Maintain the sales and use tax standards, make appropriate changes when necessary.
• Reconcile General Ledger accounts associated with Accounts Payable.
• Process inter-company invoices through accounts payable.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements
• Familiar with commonly used concepts, practices and procedures within the accounting field.
• Accuracy, strong attention to details.
• Understanding of General Ledger account structure.

General Description
The Client Services Representative 3 is responsible for managing client requests of stock, modified and custom projects from order entry through delivery. Promotes client confidence in Tubelite by facilitating order delivery on promised dates and keeps clients informed of changes affecting that delivery. Ensures that the optimum numbers of vendors are contracted in order to meet workload demands. Partners with vendors to ensure ship dates and other expectations are met.

Principal Duties and Accountabilities include, but not limited to:
• Process client purchase requests of stock, modified and custom projects from shop drawings, customer take-off and specifications.
• Partner with vendors to ensure understanding of outsource process, including billing, shipping scheduling and expectations. Includes written and verbal communications and on-site visits.
• Solicit additional vendors as needed based upon workload etc.
• Select outsource vendor based upon variables such as lead-time and performance.
• Manage projects, both in-house and out-source, with hardware by others and/or non-standard Tubelite purchased hardware.
• Track status of each order assigned to an outsource vendor and troubleshoot from production through delivery.
• Communicate updates with clients regarding any changes in status.
• Answer all inquires (i.e. phone calls, questions, concerns, etc.) regarding orders and lead times.
• Ensure client information is available to other team members during any absence from the office.
• Report inventory value located at each vendor site to Finance department as part of month end closing process
• Provide accurate, timely and complete product information requests of the client to the appropriate personnel.
• Process credit orders as needed.
• Perform similar and related duties as assigned by Manager.

Position Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Management/Administration or minimum five years experience in project management, estimating, and direct client services.
• Background in hardware preferred
• Aluminum storefront and curtain wall experience preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong background in documentation, time management, multi-tasking and organizational skills.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings, shop drawings, architectural drawings and specifications.
• General knowledge of hardware and applications.
• Computer literate, proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software.
• Technical and engineering knowledge of industry products preferred
