Tubelite Adds Archon Fenestration Technologies

Tubelite_DougUrichTubelite Inc. announces the addition of Archon Fenestration Technologies, LLC (Archon Fen-Tech) as an independent manufacturer’s representative serving select clients in Kansas, Missouri and Nebraska. Archon Fen Tech’s president, Doug Urich, will work closely with Tubelite to provide commercial building teams with storefront, curtainwall, entrances and daylight control systems.

Located in Overland Park, Kansas, Archon Fen-Tech represents best-in-class product manufacturers within the Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) MasterFormat® Division 8 – Doors and Windows specification, including Tubelite and Viracon. Urich is certified through CSI’s Construction Documents Technology (CDT) Program. He and the company offer fenestration design-assist consultations drawing from 28 years of industry experience.

“By engaging all stakeholders early and throughout the entire design and build process, Archon Fen-Tech ensures optimized use and proper application of products, and professionally manages the timely and error-free execution of product delivery. We use insight sales strategies and an integrated project delivery platform to support the customer and stakeholder experience,” said Urich.

Prior to starting Archon Fen-Tech, Urich was general manager of the Oldcastle BuildingEnvelope National Accounts business unit and, previously, was program director. Earlier in his career, he served as vice president and shareholder of AAA Glass Company in Kansas and as senior vice president of A2MG, Inc.’s Glass Division in Missouri.

In addition to his professional experience, Urich also holds a Master of Architecture and a Bachelor of Science in business administration from the University of Kansas.

Tubelite welcomes Northwestern Glass Fab

Tubelite Inc. welcomed Minneapolis-based Northwestern Glass Fab, a division of Brin Glass Company, as a distributor partner. Founded in 1912, the independently owned and operated glass and architectural metal fabricator and distributor serves Minnesota and Wisconsin.

Tubelite Hires Jim Gonzales as Plant Manager in Dallas

Tubelite_JGonzales_webTubelite Inc. added Jim Gonzales as the plant manager in Dallas. He oversees the Dallas facility’s fabrication, warehousing and shipping of storefront, curtainwall, entrances, daylight control systems and other Tubelite products.

With more than 30 years of experience, Gonzales previously has extensive background in operations management, process evaluation and continuing improvement. Most recently, he served as director of operations at Texas-based Progressive Incorporated, a division of PCC Aerostructures. Prior to this, he was the plant/production manager at Quanex Building Products/Atrium Windows and Doors, Inc. in Greenville, Texas.

Gonzales career also includes leadership positions at Newell Rubbermaid, Flextronics International and Lucent Technologies’ Power Systems (acquired by Tyco International Ltd.), as well as engineering roles at Wilsonart International and Hercules Inc. He earned an M.B.A. from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, and a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Texas.

Tubelite expands facility in Walker, Michigan

Tubelite_WalkerExpansion_webContinuing its steady growth, Tubelite Inc. completed a 33,000-square-foot expansion at its facility in Walker, Michigan. This location includes the company’s corporate office, fabrication, warehouse and shipping operations. The addition will also accommodate a new engineering test laboratory, a new fabrication training area and larger space for extrusion racking, plus new equipment, technology and ergonomic enhancements.

“The new, additional space and layout helps us improve our process flow, resulting in ever-better lead times. The new equipment also helps us gain greater capacity to support future growth and to maintain the dependable, high-quality of our products and reliable service that our customers count on us to provide,” says Mary Avery, Tubelite’s vice president of marketing.

She adds, “The expansion allows us to remain in our current location and continue many benefits the area offers. The Grand Rapids and western Michigan area continues to grow and provides Tubelite with outstanding staffing opportunities. Our location is easily accessible from the two main highways going through the area.”

The company previously added more than 43,000 square feet to the Walker facility in 2012. Today, it encompasses a total of 155,000 square feet. Its Dallas location provides additional fabrication, warehouse and shipping operations and its facility in Reed City, Michigan, houses the company’s aluminum extrusion operation.

Tubelite Hires Two Architectural Representatives

Tubelite_DougDietrich1Doug Dietrich and Kevin Haynes join Tubelite Inc. as architectural accounts representatives. Both report to Tubelite’s marketing director Mary Olivier. They work closely with architectural teams and glazing contractors across the nation to provide assistance with storefront, curtainwall, entrances and daylight control systems.

 

Based in Iowa, Doug Dietrich has more than 30 years experience in construction, architecture and business development. He most recently worked at Merchants Metals, Inc./Oldcastle Architectural, Inc. as the manager of technical sales and specifications. Prior to this, he served in architectural and business development roles at Architectural Systems, Inc.; Re-View historic window and door restoration; Major Industries, Inc.; The ReWall Company, LLC; and JELD-WEN Inc.

Dietrich earned a master’s degree in architecture from Iowa State University in Ames and a bachelor’s degree in industrial design from The University of Iowa in Iowa City.

 

Tubelite_KevinHaynesA member of the Construction Specifications Institute (CSI), Kevin Haynes, CSI, is based in Florida and also brings nearly 30 years of experience in architectural promotion, technical sales and engineering within the glass and glazing industry. Since 2012, he worked at Coral Industries, Inc. as an architectural representative. Before this, he was the brand manager of ProTek® Systems for YKK AP America Inc., and the architectural products sales manager for Vitro America, LLC. He also has held several positions in sales, engineering and architectural sales with Oldcastle BuildingEnvelope®, where he earned numerous awards with the Vistawall Group.

Haynes studied at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California, and at the Creative College of Design in Detroit.

 

In addition to Haynes involvement with CSI, both he and Dietrich seek opportunities to share Tubelite’s informational presentations and approved courses with members of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), as well as other members of the design and building envelope community.
